Chicago Fulton Market

Chá

Set in Chicago’s Fulton Market, at the intersection of food, design, arts, and culture, Chá is conceived as an immersive tea house that blends contemporary hospitality with the quiet ritual of Chinese tea culture. The design unfolds as a sequence of intimate spaces - bar, tea room, and lounge - connected through layered thresholds that encourage slow movement and moments of pause.

A deep, warm palette of red plaster, terrazzo, and marble anchors the interior, while arched openings, translucent screens, and soft lighting reinterpret traditional spatial motifs through a contemporary lens. Custom millwork and curated display walls present tea vessels as objects of craft, reinforcing the ceremonial nature of the experience.

Balancing warmth and restraint, chá is designed as a refined social environment-simultaneously intimate and communal — where material richness, light, and spatial rhythm elevate the everyday act of gathering around tea in one of Chicago’s most dynamic cultural districts.
